Pulp of sour fruit called Lapsi (Choerospondias axillaris - Nepali Hog Plum) cultivated in rural Nepal. The whole fruit is boiled to extract the pulp and mixed with sugar, salt, red chilies and asafetida. Sundried to form into candies.

Sour fruit called Lapsi (Choerospondias axillaris – Nepali Hog Plum). The tree has long been cultivated in rural Nepal for its fruit. The whole fruit is boiled to remove the skin. It is then cooked along with traditional spices, sugar, salt and red chili powder giving it a distinct hot and sweet flavour.
